Twenty-nine years of obedience in the heart of the city.
Rev. Dr. Darien K. Bolden Sr. has pastored the Historic First Missionary Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach since June 1, 1997. A native of Jacksonville and a graduate of Florida Theological Seminary, he also serves the Florida General Baptist Convention and the Union St. James Baptist Association.
Our story, since 1860
Built by faith in 1860. Standing in the heart of the city ever since.
In 1860, years before emancipation, a small group of believers in Fernandina built a prayer house with little but their faith and called their first pastor, Elder William Rose of Savannah. By 1873 they had purchased this ground on South 9th Street, and in 1874 they dedicated the sanctuary that still holds worship every Sunday. It is the oldest known Black Missionary Baptist church in Florida with uninterrupted service.

Our mission is to reach the lost by modeling the Great Commission through evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and worship. That is the whole job. Everything else is how we do it.

Sunday worship streams live right here at 10:15 AM. Midweek prayer and Bible study go live on Wednesdays at noon and 6:00 PM. Replays stay up all week.
